Qualification for Teacher Position

A committed professional with teaching passion
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to positively impact staff, students and the parents
Bachelors degree required, a masters degree is preferred
NM Teaching License or must be actively seeking
Knowledge and experience of academic standards, curriculum, accreditation procedures, Title funding and CYFD, Preferred
A minimum of 1 year teaching experienec in USA preferred
Knowledge/ experience of diversity of cultures and religions in USA preferred
Basic understanding and respect of Islamic faith
Original documentation to prove legal status to work in USA and all degree ad certifications. A copy will be kept in SA file
Health history and Criminal background check may be required upon hiring

Volunteer Opportunities

Salam Academy is in search of volunteers to help in the school. The following positions still need to be filled:

DataEntry - must be able type accurately and navigate through forms. The time for this position is flexible and can be done for short periods of time like an hour before and after dropoff or pickup.

Answering phones - must be able to speak clearly and professionally. hours are flexible and we can use many people in this position at different times of the day.

Pre-K assistant - must be able to work with children and help in the
classroom on a regular basis. does not need to work everyday but must commit to a regular schedule

Fun week Coordinator - Help us plan fun week, the last week of school. If you have good ideas on what the children might like to do or if you like to organize events, this is the position for you.

Library assistant - must be able to alphabetize to re shelve books and help teachers on library days. must commit to a regular schedule.

Playground monitors - must be able to be at school during middle
school recess from 1215-1 pm. does not have to work everyday but must be able to commit to a regular schedule.

Assistant Chess Coach - must be available Wed afternoons from
3:45-5:00 pm. Should have some knowledge of chess.

Recycling Coordinator - must box up recycling once a week and prepare it to send in. This can be done anytime of the day.

Reading Assistants - this is the most important job of all. We need volunteers to read with students and listen to students read. We want students to practice their reading skills in a one-on-one environment. This involves listening to children read and being able to be at the school on a consistent schedule.
